CONSTRUCTIONBuilt in around 1973. GRP construction with blue painted topsides and blue painted decks, twin bilge keels, rudder hung on large skeg, Bermudan ketch rig with external chainplates, centre cockpit,7 berths in 3 cabins with a maximum headroom of around 6’3”.

SAILS & RIG:Slab reefing mainsail (2010, Dolphin, never used). Sail cover (new 2010). Mizzen (1973) with sail cover (2010). Genoa roller reefing system with furling No 1 Genoa (2010, Dolphin, never used). Storm Jib (1973). All lines led aft to cockpit. Alloy mast and boom and stainless steel standing rigging. Nylon running rigging (2005).
ENGINE:BMC Captain 1.5 litre approx 30HP inboard diesel (1973) but reconditioned in 2005 with 35 hours running since. Indirect cooling via heat exchanger. 40 gallon fuel in 2 20g tanks with a consumption per hour of around one gallon at a cruising speed of around 6 knots. Shaft drive to 3 blade bronze propeller. (New shaft and gland in 2008). Alternator charging to 2 x 120 amp/hr 12 volt batteries.

DECK GEAR:Stainless steel pushpit, pulpit and guardwires, 2 spraydodgers, cockpit cover, winter cover, cockpit cushions, boarding ladder, wheel steering, spinnaker pole, 2 sheet winches, one halyard winch, davits, 25lb main anchor with 90ft chain and warp, 20lb kedge anchor with warp, various mooring warps and fenders.
SAFETY GEAR:Lifebuoy, manual fire extinguisher, manual bilge pump.
NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:Plastimo compass, NASA echo sounder, Sumlog, Shoreline VHF radio, Autohelm 3000 wheelpilot, Garmin 128 GPS, clock and barometer, navigation light, steaming light, tri colour masthead light and anchor light.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT:Her galley has a gas cooker with 2 burners, oven and grill, pressurised hot and cold water supply to the sink is via 40 gallon freshwater (2 x 20g tanks) with hot water via engine calorifier. Her separate heads compartment has a marine toilet. Blue upholstery with curtains and carpets.
ACCOMMODATION:There are 7 berths including 2 “V” berths in the forward cabin, 2 single berths in the aft cabin, 2 berths in the saloon (one of which converts to a double).
REMARKS:“Blue Beth” was purchased by her current owner 22 years ago, she has been used for cruising on the East Coast and has very much been enjoyed by her owner who describes her as a “beautiful vessel”. He is sad to see her go, but the maintenance is becoming too much for him. The Macwester Wight’s are excellent, solid family cruising boats, built to last and thoroughly practical for family cruising.
